Kim Sam Soon is a baker who has a talent in making pastries and cakes. On Christmas Eve, she caught her boyfriend, Min Hyun Woo, cheating on her and she breaks up with him. On that same night, she accidentally went into the men’s restroom and met Hyun Jin Hun, a somewhat callous fellow but sometimes considerate guy. By sheer coincidence, Jin Hun needs a baker for his restaurant Bon Appetit and Sam Soon is unemployed. Sam Soon is hired as the restaurant’s chief baker and the two fight like cat and dog. Nevertheless, they started to have feelings for each other and Sam Soon agreed to act as Jin Hun’s girlfriend so his mother would leave him alone. Things got complicated when Jin Hun’s ex-girlfriend Yoo Hee Jin came back from the States, intending to win him back.
Oh My Goodness! This drama was so hard to find with English subs and good quality, but I found it on Tudou. I loved this drama, totally hilarious. Also, it’s my first time I saw a drama with a “fat” girl (which means normal girl, but considered fat in the Korean industry). At the very beginning, the drama didn’t appeal to me that much, but with the super high ratings, I thought that it was probably going to be very good. And it was pretty good.
The lead actress is awesome! She is very womanly and strong in this drama and I loved her character. I like how she portrays a more natural person being “ugly” and “fat”. Let me mention that she gained 15 lbs only for this drama! Her acting was also priceless. She made me laugh for so many random things. I also loved her dreams, how hilarious they were. At first, I really believed in them… She acted a 30 years old woman, which is her real age so that didn’t feel very weird. However, the lead actor was only 23 when he was acting in the drama. He is so young and handsome! He seemed a little annoying at first, but he’s totally an down to earth person. He’s reactions are natural, even when he’s punching some other guys. I don’t have a specific reason, but I really told myself that he would be a perfect guy. I have also seen him in the movie “A Millionaire’s First Love” where he was always really cute~
The supporting actress was in Gummy’s MV called “As A Man”. In the MV, she was really pretty, but in here, she wasn’t as beautiful. She seemed to have a long and flat face. (Plastic surgery?) Her character was too much of the “perfect-girl”. I would say that she seems nice, but we still don’t like her. And she has this American always with him. Back then, Daniel Henney couldn’t speak Korean very well, so it was mostly English and the actress grew up in Australia, so they communicate in English in the drama. They would make a cute couple…
On both side’s family, people are really nice. Sam Soon’s mother is really caring and her sister is really cool. She reminds me of the sister in Boys Over Flowers: strong lady. Also, the little niece is just so cute!! I love these child stars, their acting is already 100x better than mine… Even though she doesn’t really speak in the drama, I felt that I knew her character very well..
I just loved how the natural reactions of the characters made this drama joyful. I was laughing for so many times just because they were so naive.
On the last episode, I cried, not because it was sad, but it felt just beautiful. I just loved the emotions that come from the characters and it ended amazingly well.
