The Skinny: Fans of Andy Lau or Maggie Cheung may want to check this out, but 'forgettable' would be the best word to describe this movie.
This marginally entertaining action comedy comes from Benny Chan, future auteur of the Gen-X cop movies. Andy Lau stars as a silly cop who must win a kung-fu competition vs. bastard cop Roy Cheung or the end of the world will occur. Well, not really, but pride will be lost and those who love Andy will be upset. Meanwhile, there’s some crap going on about teams of cops and who's better than who and all that typical HK police comedy jazz. Then pure wackiness ensues. Nick Cheung shows up in an early role as one of Andy Lau's fellow cops. The saving grace of this movie is Maggie Cheung, who manages to be compelling and believable even in total crap. This movie isn’t really total crap. But it’s close.
